Default 1982 Sending Unit Question

Anyone know what the inlet size on the 1982 sending unit is? I want to use one for my fuel injecton setup, but I cannot find any information on the return line size on the sending unit itself. It looks like all of the 78-82's use the same small return line on the frame rail, but in pictures of the 82' sending unit the inlet looks to be the same size as the outlet which is 3/8". Any ideas?

It's 3/8" on the fuel inlet and 1/4" on the return, I'm 99% sure on that. It's been a while since I had mine out.

It is 3/8 on the inlet and 5/16 on the return side. I have the 82 sending unit installed on my 1980 rolling chassis. I upgraded all the fuel lines to stainless and increased the return line size to 5/16 for my fuel injection system. I can confirm without a doubt that it is 5/16 at the sender.

It's funny though because the stock return fuel line size for 1982 was 1/4" but the return inlet size at the sender is 5/16.

My Holley Commander 950 manual calls for a 3/8" return, but 5/16" is only 1/16" smaller. I wonder if it would make a difference?

Did you upgrade the size of your SS return line to 5/16", 3/8", or leave it at 1/4"?

My return line size was increased to 5/16. I think 3/8 return line is overkill. These guys made all my fuel and brake lines in stainless http://www.classictube.com/. Just ask for the return line to be made in 5/16 instead of the stock 1/4 size.

Here is a picture of my fuel injection system. I still need to finish the fuel lines at the fuel rails and mount a regulator and map sensor. It is about to be disassembled now to be powdercoated. I'm using a single plane manifold with a 90 degree elbow and a "fly by wire" LS2 throttle body. The crank sensor is mounted in the Vortec timing cover and the cam sensor is mounted in the Vortec distributor which is gutted and only being used to provide a cam sensor signal and a means of spinning the oil pump. This system is controlled with a 2002 LS1 Corvette PCM. I have a 4L60E transmission ready to be installed which also is controlled by the PCM. The only expensive custom made part of this fuel injection system is the billet 24X reluctor that is mounted between the balancer and the crank nose behind the Vortec timing cover. I now have a GEN 1 small block that thinks it's a LS1/LS2 engine. No more distributor and 8 coils mounted on the valve covers with short spark plug wires.

What type of connectors and lines are you planning to use at the ends of the stock lines to run up to the FI?
