Default Tachometer Problems! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Hi Guys,I need some advice on my 76 Vette,I have been fighting electrical issues one after another.Thought I had everything taken care of and the tach quits.I ordered a new circuit board from Ecklers and put it in this morning, the tach now works but at idle it reads 5'000RPM's.can anyone give me any advice on my next move or if you've ever heard of such a thing?

Yes I think so! Did you do a zero set on the tach needle when you installed it?

If you didn't do a zero set, the needle will start at where you set it.

You have to make sure the tach is powered up and with no signal before you put the needle on zero. With power and ground the gauge will go to zero waiting for input signal from the distributor and at this time you push the needle on!

If you did a zero set, one other thing it could be is when you removed the needle you pulled the spindle outward and it stuck in place. This happens all the time and will really mess up the function of the tach. You'll see in the video below how to prevent this from happening as well as how to do a zero set.

This video is done on a 78-82 tach, but it will show you how to do the zero set and the needle problem I mentioned.
