Rear Bearing Set-Up?
I have a 75 vette with bad rear bearings (when off the ground the wheels on each side can be wobbled easily from top to bottom and front to back). I have read a nice thread on how to do the job but am wondering about the special set-up tool for spacing the bearings and getting the endplay within 0.001-0.008. What purpose does this serve? I have replaced quite a few bearings in other cars and have never heard of such a thing. Is this unique to vettes or have I been missing something all these years? What could go wrong if the set-up is wrong? I am new the forum and have only recently purchased by car. Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Unique to the Vette. If you don't know what is going on in there you can do some serious damage. It is not to difficult if you have the tools. It just takes time and patience. Gary, GTR1999 is the guy to go to for info on the bearing setup here on the forum.
