Installed new headlight warning switches on both light assemblies. Checked to ensure they are keyed properly into keyways in flange.
With the headlights up, driver side appears to be way off and not engaged. Passenger side is engaging properly. I can't figure out why they are different
Well one thing that stands out to me is the adjustment bolt on the driver side is in the link the wrong way. This may be restricting your travel. See the bolt head on the right hand side and the bolt end on the drivers. . . You might check this.
DOuble checked that and they are both entering the proper way. One is a hex head (1/2 inch) with a flange and the other is a hex head (either 1/4 or 3/16"). They were engaged about the same amount. I can switch one of them out to match the other but I'm not sure which type is correct.
The passenger side is correct and the driver’s side is backwards!
The bolt has a head like what is pictured in the passenger side and an end like what is shown on the driver’s side. So, if the hex head to the bolt is inward I was thinking this might be what is stopping the lamp from seating all the way. This bolt is what controls the adjustment level.
You might try switching the driver side and re-adjust the bolt. . . See what happens but be careful not to break off the bolt in the link. They can break and they are not fun to fix.
Maybe heat, but you'd have to be careful. Praying works best, I must not be in good upstairs the last time I did this I broke both. On the other hand, that car was pretty crusty.
I think the driver side switch is mounted from the wrong side and needs to "come in" from the right side (180 degrees rotation) to align with the "bolt" above when the light assy. closes.
Turned bolt around. Thanks for that. Seems like it was interfering with the final actuation of the lever that conmtacts the switch. Now switch actuates and turns off the headlights lamp in the cockpit. Thanks Willcox!
Now the drivers side is slow to close with the same lever discussed above being slow to disengage. If its the actuator lever how do I adjust that?
Gilda Radner (Emily Lattella) was right "if its not one thing its another."

Use this troubleshooting guide to see if the different components are working correctly with no leaks. http://www.corvette-101.com/vacuum.htm The diagram is wrong so go to Willcox for the correct diagram. PG.

That bolt is for the down adjustment to get the door level with the body . Does the bolt you turned around have a head on the other end like the passenger side ? I'm not getting how it was interferring with the last little bit of action that was needed to open fully and depress the button switch. Can you take a pic of how it looks now that you have turned the bolt around ?
