I am trying to put new seals in my 81 calipers. I have no problem with the inner seal, but the outer seal needs to be pressed in. Well, I bought a press and still can't get them in straight. I think its because the caliper itself is rounded and does not sit flat on the press base. Is there a special tool for this? TIA
I use the white PVC plumbing unions and a hammer to beat the seals in. Fronts use a 1 1/2" fitting and the rears use a 1" fitting.
I did have a heck of a time with my last rebuilds, tho. Used "Dorman" kits, chinese made, and had some problems getting the outer seals in. Like they were slightly too big.
Thanks KapsSA,
I was thinking that maybe my seals were a little to big. I bought them from Advance, I am going to try a set from NAPA and see if they fit better.
