The only 3.08 with OK is 1978.

look at the casting date, it should be a few months before the assembly date. That will tell you if you have a 72 or 78. Doesn't matter 308 were used in both for the base automatic cars most of the time. The posi have the same lousy clutches, setup is probably sloppy as well. I'd be more concerned on the condition of the diff then the date codes. If it's out then pull the cover and see what ratio it is. Do a pattern check and lash check to see if they're still usable or worn.
The casting date is definately 2 72. I've had 3 people look at it. The punches are clear, not double struck etc etc. Equally clear is the OK. Problem is, they didn't make an OK in 1972 or even anything with an O or a K in it. It outta be an AW to be correct. As strange as it sounds - I'm *sure* of all the stampings, as impossible as it seems.
Condition is an 8 outta 10. The is enough gear wear that I can rotate the pinion yoke about 1/32 of an inch back and forth before contact. Wear pattern is perfect and full contact - no chipped teeth iether. It ran silently and nice when I used it. I think I'm gonna put new seals in it and Fleabay it in favor of a 3.55 or 3.70. My long term plan calls for overdrive to make it back up - and I don't wanna do this twice.
Those numbers are bound to raise questions that I can not answer though.
