Big Grudge match race is tonight!!!!
If you'd have that 400cid in there you would be telling a different story. ;)
Seriously, for someone coming into this half way, what were you up against? What is he running in his stang? and what are you running in your vette?
From someone who has raced most of my life I'll make some obsrvations. He beat you by almost a full second. A 100 hp shot from N2O would not have helped that much. It might have been good for a half sec, assuming you hit it after the 60 ft light. If initiated out of the box, it wouldn't have done you any good with street tires, slicks...maybe. 1/4 mile it would have helped ET much better. If you want to make up a full sec in the 1/8, it's gonna take some juice.
Also, if his car is set up to run in the 1/8 mile...ie very tall gears so that he is hitting approx redline in third when he breaks the lights...you didn't have a chance in hell. If you on the other hand are shifting into third and tripping the lights in a low rpm you're killing your ET. 1/8 mile racing is different than 1/4 mile as much as the night is from the day, especially in weenie blocks. You either have to wind 'em out in second or gear them to run out high in third.
I am probably telling you something that you already know, if so, blow this off. I just watch so many people go out and race and set themselves up for disappointment...I'd still like to hear how the two cars are set up. CID's, gears, auto/4spd etc...
:seeya
How many cubic inches of big block power was this Mustang running? I would tend to think that the torque of that Ford big block probably helped him down the 1/8 mile a little better too.

What is your altitude? What mods do you have done to your engine, besides the FI?
I'm curious because I ran a best of 9.33 in the 1/8 with fairly consistent 9.37's. That was before the exhaust mods, I'll post later this year (after track opens) what I run with the new exhaust. We're at an altitude of 400 ft.

This was not a race for numbers, but a race to the finish line. Street Race.
I think Dallas is about 500 feet above sea level.
Here's a run of mine with my 418 (sorry the timing system messed up the 1/8th mile speed). The 8.3 1/8th mile time is accurate.
