Default Electric fan connection question

I have a SPAL6 supplemental electric fan. The orange wire is supposed to be connected to an ignition source (+12vdc) when key is in the run position. It can be connected to a constant +12vdc for the fan to run continuously until the engine cools down with the key in the off position.

Which would you do? If the first option, which wire should I use? The fan controller is on the passenger side of the engine bay. If I go with the second option, which wire should I connect to then? Thanks.

Don't know what wire goes where but the second option is no good unless you have an electric water pump and have that running too you will just be cooling the water in the rad with the ignition off

Can you post the wiring daigram for your system? I have a DeRaille(sp?) fan relay and the orange wire on that is the 12v+ source to the whole show.

The first thing I would say is, you didn’t mention a relay. You really should wire one in to be on the safe side. If it were me, I would only have the fan come on when you need it to and go off when you turn the car off. The simple way to do that is put a thermostat in one of your heads to control the aux fan.
Yes I have a thermostat in the engine block and a fan relay. I'm just looking for an ignition source to connect the orange wire that comes out of the relay to.

I figured that out when Tim asked his question, that’s why I deleted my post, sorry.

Here's my diagram. The area circled is what I'm trying to figure out where to connect to get a +12vdc source when the ignition is in the run position.

Made that easy! Run inside into the fuse block and plug it into the fuse block- marked "IGN".

Do you mean just solder it to one end of the IGN fuse?

There are three male spades near the center of your fuse panel. If memory serves me they are labeled (bat, acc and ign) all in a line going up and down. I think he is saying put a female spade connector on your wire and plug it into the male spade that says “IGN”.

Thanks, I'll check it out. Is there anywhere in the engine bay I can splice it to? I was told the windshield wiper motor would work, but which wire of the three do I slice it to? I'm just having a problem finding a way to pass the wire through the fuse box.

The yellow wire for your wiper motor is the one.

Well, I was running out of time, so I connected the battery and turned the key to the on position. I got 12v out of both the blue and the yellow wires, so I spliced in to the blue wire. Will that be ok or should I change it to the yellow wire?
