Default Custom Auto Sounds...mp3's skipping

I figure some of you guys have the type of radio I'm talking about, so here goes.

I have a custom auto sounds radio in my '69 and for some reason when it reads mp3 files from the USB thumb drive sometimes certain mp3's skip. The drive is about half full.

Now I'm pretty savvy when it comes to mp3 ripping and settings, but I can't figure out why some of my mp3's ripped from a brand new CD will skip (dead silence for a few seconds) about every ten seconds when played on my custom auto sounds radio, and others won't.

The same mp3's do not skip when played on my computer. The track looks just fine opened up in a audio editing program, and it plays fine.

I can't see a major difference in the settings I used between the ones that play fine, and the ones that don't.

It's obviously an issue with the mp3 decoder inside the radio, but Custom Auto Sounds doesn't even say what formats are compatible.

Anyone else notice this issue with these radios?

Try a lower bit rate? Maybe the higher bit rates or variable bit rates are harder for your radio to process. 96K is still better than your ears.

This may sound odd but try a different thumb drive. Incompatability seems an impossiblity but if you have one laying around, just give it a shot.
