Default Sluggish Acceleration & Stalling Issue

Having an issue with my stock ’75 L-48. At idle is wants to die without a touch of gas until warm. But usually is fine after a very short time. Today it started being sluggish under any acceleration, even light, then it started stalling out. After as little as 30 seconds it would fire right back up. Plugs have less then 5K miles on them, new wires.

I'm thinking this is a fuel problem. The rubber line has a slight kink in it, not a full hard bend but possibly a slight restriction in flow here. The line is new, and the right length.

It seems like it just runs out of gas and then the reservoir has to refill and it is fine, but it can be starved to death.

Any ideas?

I had the identical issue about two weeks ago. I had gas in the fuel. My carb had water two. You may not have the same issue but check your fuel filter for crap in it.
Only takes abot 2 minute to check the filter and it sometimes saves alot of effort in other areas
Good luck

Thanks Frank. Do I need to drain the gas tank to pull the line from the carb to check the filter?

Is your choke working? Is the accelerator pump working?
When the engine is cold, remove the air cleaner cover before doing anything else, look at the choke valve. Thats the top flap on the front of the carb, then bump the gas pedal, if the valve is fully open it should snap mostly closed. If its not mostly closed you might have an inop choke which will make it hard to start and it will not want to take gas until its warmed up good. Next, look into the throat of the carb and hold the choke valve open with a finger and operate the throttle, as soon as you start moving the throottle you should see a squirt of fuel into the throat from the accelerator pump. If its not working it will balk and die when you accelerate. Might just be carb rebuild time
