My Harmonic Balancer Was Shot !
I took the car to my cousin's radiator shop for a water pump and thermostat change and a flush and thank God I did.....Once the water pump was off , the harmonic balancer was exposed and looked like it separated from itself.It was actually rubbing the timing chain cover
.What could have caused that?.....JW, my very trusted mechanic, said that it happened to one of his 454's on his boat before, so he recognized it immediately.The center was almost 1/2 an inch out of the outer circle.....Maaannn....Talk about saving a motor just in time !...What the ???
