Default Hooker side pipes with EFI

Is anybody using an EFI and Hooker side pipe set-up. If so where have you got your oxygen sensor located?
I know its best at the collector but I dont want it located on the side of the car!!!

Brad.

That's where it needs to go. Just put it on the inside and it won't stick out too much.

I put mine in my collector on the inside tilted as far up as possible before it hits the frame. The angle is not by the book, but it has been fiine. Usually, we like them to be angled up so no condensation can accumulate in the sensor tip.

Cool thanks, I wasn't sure how high the collector was positioned in relation to the side of the frame.

Mine is in the collector as well, probably 2" or so from the sidepipe. I did notice that it ideally should be further back is it is a straight shot from one of the pipes and probably not reading a mixture of all of the cylinders on that side of the car. It seems to work ok for now though.

Good question.

Two things:

One - if you are doing an Accel system - the O2 only needs to be in one of the primary tubes, just not on the inside of a bend.

Two - if you are doing any other system that specifies to have the O2 in the collector - you need to make sure it is mounted between 10 and 2 or else it will collect moisture and will fail way too soon...as well as give poor readings.

I ran mine on the passenger side (single O2 Edelbrock Pro-Flo) in the 12:00 position about 4" back where all the pipes come together.

I extended the harness with a grommet in the fender gill.

I'm working on another one right now - it will also have side mounts (not hooker) and we will be doing the same thing. While it isn't the most attractive - it works - and it is in the most appropriate position to avoid failures and gather the most engine information.

This is where I ran mine and I wired in a Bosch heated sensor.
