i thought I would add one more thing...

when on the highway at 60...the car runs around 170 deg...it was only at idle when I stopped at the traffic light that the fluid began venting overboard and the temp began to rise. just so I am clear, the radiator had basically vented all of the fluid overboard, and then the temp began to increase.

OK so I had a guy over tonight looking at the C3 to tell me what all is wrong and needs to be done. He suggested the reason I am over heating is because a piece or two is missing from between my radiator and body causing the air to escape and not be pushed into the radiator. Can anyone tell me what this is missing or show me a picture?

He also shown me on the bottom where the plastic is and not connected to the piece of metal and with air force as on highway lifts up causing air to be restricted there as well.

I have had simular problems since I had my original rebuilt.

I just purchased a radiator seal kit from Bair's Corvette PA. When I got the kit it's plain to see where I don't have seals. I will be putting new seals in this week end. I will follow up to let you know how much it helps.

The peice you are asking about is a collector for the original air cleaner intakes. See the C3 Zip catalog, go to Air Intake Ducts and there is a line drawing of the duct work in an "80". I have left mine intact just to feed cooler air to my K&M air cleaner which is simply wide open all the way around so I dont use the "flex ducts" shown in the catalog.
