Fuel gage

About 2 weeks ago I noiticed my fuel gage barely bouncing and removed the connection at the tank, cleaned and replaced,didn't help.
Yesterdays ride it would bounce from full to 1/2 full mark(the tank had just been filled up). I'm the kind of guy that if it's on my car I want it to work, no matter what it is, so again I ask for more help. Thanks

Well it's doing it again (bouncing), I guess I thought the ground wire worked, have R&R the wire and doesn't help, should I go to the instrument cluster? Thanks ED
