Default A/C Barely Does Anything

Just got done doing the C4 blower upgrade. What a PITA but she blows like it should now but the AC isn't doing squat. The air coming out the center vent is 85 degrees on a 75 degree day. The line going into the condenser is barely colder than the outside air with just a little condensation on it. The compressor slows down the RPM's about 200 so it's doing something. The pressure on what I assume is the low side shows about 15 PSI with the AC running and 60 with it turned off. That's using my cheapy recharging guage that I lost the instructions for. I'm sure I'm missing something basic here.

Thanks. Yeah, I found some instructions and added about 3 cans of freon to get it to around 30-35 lbs. and now it's blowing in the low 50's. Should have found those instructions before I wasted anyone's time on the forum with this but of course now I have to figure out where the freon is going. Maybe I don't want to know.

If you used R134 about 2 to 3 -12 ounce cans........if the system was converted from R12..

The pressure on the low side should be about 30lbs at 1500 RPM.....

They usually hold about 3 cans, look for a high side sight glass which when it has a low charge will show bubbles going thru it, when fully charged, it will be clear. Find a leak detector to check for leaks, or try soapy water at the connections, looking for bubbles. Most likely the compressor is leaking, which would need rebuilt. Sorry< i assumed your still using R-12. What freon are you using, since this will make a difference in what information we give you.

The sight glass bubble test is not accurate with R134A.....

The charge will be less than R12............
