it bolts on with 3 quick nuts. it should have been installed first after paint and before installing the bumper.

And if you are using a fiberglass bumper, sometimes you may have to carefully grind some of the thickness away from the backside where the nuts go so that they will be able to grab onto the emblem studs. The emblem can be installed with the bumper on, but if it was not to much of a pain to re-install the bumper. You may want to remove it so it will be easier to work on off the car. If you choose not to remove the bumper, than the metal plate that is bolts to the impact bar behind the area where the emblem goes need to be removed so you can get the nuts on the emblem. This reinforcement plate is FUN to remove but I have done several over the years and I know it can be done . Is it a 50/50 split. Remove the plate or bumper. If you are a novice, without tools that can get to the top bolts of the plate, I would remove the bumper.

It may sound like Bubba but I found the same problem on my 77. To me it was impossible to reach up there to get that plate back on so I used just a spot of expoy on the tabs on the emblem that go thru the bumper cover. It has been in place for 2 years now with no problems
