Already to start taking motor out and decide to position the car in the garage better. The dam thing died halfway sticking out of the garage... UGGGGHHHH. I think it would be best to troubleshoot now instead when the rebuilt motor is sitting in the car. The cars just turns over.. won't fire up! Changed the coil with a accel 12v from auto zone, just to see it the ballast went south again.. I have NO SPARK. The fuses are good! Wiring looks good! Im stumped! BEFORE I EVEN TOOK ONE BOLT OFF... HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!! :mad  :mad  :mad
78Vette.... if I don't fix the starting issue now, I will have to when I put the new motor in.... I think breaking in a new cam would be bad at this stage.
Bob, grounding where?.... Electrical always gets the better of me.... :mad
How many plugs have you checked? Might be possible you pulled one bad plug out to look at it. And one bonehead move I made was not grounding the spark plug when I checked for spark.
Look on the top of the coil one side is 12v follow that wire . that wire feeds the voltage to your coil. if it is broke or grounded you won`t get anything out of your coil.you can also ohm it. that will show a short if you have one. an open will show a broke wire. My guess is a short. How long was it running before it quit?? just a few minutes would indicate it got against something HOT check exhaust for melted wire.
Hope this helps
Bob
My coil is not throwing spark... I can hold the booting in my hand and when the motor is cranked... I dont get ZAPPED! I checked the wiring again... all the fuses.... I could see if it sat for a while... it ran and then just quit!
FOR SOME REASON... My wiring under the tape wrap fried all the way back to the starter? THe yellow wire that connects to the coil appeared okay until I got about a foot into the harness.... IT IS ALL MELTED??? SHORT SOMEWHERE???? Going to start pulling engine bay apart..
