does anyone have pictures of correct exhaust manifolds for a 73 small block--thinking of changing my headers--thks
If the headers are full length and a headache, you may want to consider McJack's shorty headers whcih are an exact duplicate dimensionally of the stock OEM cast iron manifolds, fit perfectly, have no clearance issues, and hook right up to a stock type exhaust with no road clearance issues. I waited 25 years for someone to make this type of headers since I have had numerous full length headers on other cars over many years and to me they are really not worth the trouble on a stock type engine for the street. Mcjack's are a great compromise for the street without any of the hassles. They offer more power with no loss of low end torque but not the mid to high RPM gain of full length headers. The real gain for full length headers is on highly modified, high horsepower engines. Just my experience.
thks guys--pictures really help--their are a pair in my area for sale that look the same except they have air hole plugs-would they still work--are they older or what???thks again

Someone pulled the air tubes and pluged the holes, which you'll need to do, unless you have an original air pump and all associated hoses, tubing and air injection manfolds.
Not to be too critical, but $700 for a set? are they caoted with platinum, or something? My aluminum heads cost 950. McJack has gone McCrazy. No.
No question that the prices are a little too much. I got mine before he went McCrazy-$495-still pricey but not $700. I guess being each hand made, not machined, costs money. They are a work of art, though, on the car and since no one else makes a shorty, not block huggers, that are exact duplicate of the OEM manifold, he has got us by the perennial, you know what, if you want his unique product! I waited 25 years for someone to offer a header like McJacks.
