Im looking to upgrade to a modern radio in my 82. Question is will I need an adapter for the factory wiring harness? or can It just plug right in? Im pretty new to this stuff...

Thanks, Dominic

The factory C3 radio was designed to run two 10ohm speakers so the stock radio amplifier is very low current draw, depending on the set-up you going to do, if you just running a "head unit" the wiring will be OK to tap off of for your installation to run the head unit. Amplifiers are an easy installation because the battery source is right next to the best spot to install the amplifier. I am just finishing up a Ipod to a BIG amplifier installation in my 70 Vette, I put the amp in the jack well below the storage tray and ran wiring through center console and sides of interior by the rocker sills. I put everything as faar away from the ignition wires as possible to keep ignition noise away from the speakers. Vettes are a special case as the fibreglass does NOTHING to dampen the electrical signal from the ignition wires. I have never been able to isolate dash mounted speakers from ignition noise on a C2/3 Vette so I installed my speakers into the kick panels below the dash and it seems to be working well. I just need to tie up some loose ends and the installation will be finished.
