Default 1978 Carpet & Interior Restore Complete

Hi ~ Well this was quite a fun Project and Extremely rewarding. This is my first time to every lay carpet of any kind... and as I went through the project I wound up replacing many Parts along the way including Console Bezels, Instrument Cluster Lenses, Door Panels, A/C Vents and of Course the Carpet. I had the Seats Professionally redone - I wasn't prepared to tackle that particular Job

All the rest I did my self. I just took my time and Followed lots of suggestions I found here on the Forums. I actually Journaled my progress On my Initial Thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...ny-advice.html - including lots of photos throughout the Process... Here are some photos of the Last steps and then the Finished Job. She's Factory White with A Saffron Interior (Only offered on the 1978 Vette)

Thanks for all the help here on the Forums and I hope this Thread and My original thread help someone else along the way.

By the way - The guys over at Willcox Corvette supplied me with all of the parts and materials I needed for the job. They are terrific and I Highly recommend them!

Cheers ~ Joe

Joe, that looks fabulous!

Hope you dont mind but what sort of cost do you think it was for everything? My 79 needs a complete interior make over and if I ccan get it looking anything half as nice as yours, I'd be very pleased!

Being in the UK, parts will have to be shipped from the US to keep the cost down but I would rather do it all in one go. Just need to work out some kind of budget!

Joe,
Excellent work. It turned out just great!

One little detail, has your horn button been replaced? Or maybe the center emblem? IIRC, all '78s had the 25th anniversary emblem. Interesting since the outside is the saffron color.

Again, great job.

Thanks again to all of you for the very nice comments. It was a very rewarding experience and I am pleased with the End Results. As with any project - little things don't go the way you expect and you make mistakes along the way - i have a few hidden in there but you have to look hard to find them And you won't see them in a photo.

Jotto - I would say i spent all in all around 2000 dollars but that was for everything... door panels, leather seat covers, carpeting, Cargo Frame and Doors, Floor mats, Heat Shielding, Sound Deadener, and many other components as well.... When i started - i only wanted to replace the carpet but as i took things out i saw how badly they needed replacing too so it just sorta exploded from there...

You can do it in stages.- starting with the carpet first. That alone with the Floor Mats, Heat Shielding, and Sound Deadener could be done for around 500 bucks. Look at my original post - the link is in this thread at the top. You will see what I used for Sound-Deadener materials and Heat Shielding - It was very economical.

Best of Luck and I Hope you'll share your progress with us.

Regarding the Horn Button Brad - When I purchased the Car last year it had that button. Now I am going to try and find the correct Anniversary Button. I want everything Perfect and I love That emblem. It's gorgeous
If you know where i can find it - let me know!

Cheers ~ Joe
