78 Fuel line changing procedure.
How do I change this?
How much gas comes out of the gas line and the vent hose?
Any helpful tips? ( I do not want 5 gallons of gas on the ground

.)

Jack up the front of the car and safely support it.
You are going to get gas on you and there is no way around it.
If the tension clamps are still on your hoses, move them back onto the hoses. If you have jewel clamps ...do the same thing.
Have your new hoses set up with the tension clamps already installed back far enough on the hose so you can slip the hose on the line and then move the tension clamp into the correct area for sealing. The tension clamps are fine and will seal due to this is not a high pressure area. NO need for jewel clamps. If using jewel clamps, do not overtighten them or you can damage your new hoses.
Pull the hoses off and then install the new ones. Some fuel is going to drain out due to the reservoir in the fuel pump. And will eventually stop but may also require you to loosen your fuel cap so if pressure is in the tank it will not siphon it out while working on it.
Start to finish it is about 1/2 hour if that.

++++ Removed battery leads ++++
1) I did not drive the car for a day. No PSI in system.
2) Raised front of car.
3) Removed Gas cap.
4) Replaced vent line.
5) Replaced fuel line - Lost 5-6 drops of gas.
6) Use fuel injection clamps.
Worked great!
