If those are power windows and you do end up changing the regulators (or even removing them, be careful. The spring on the regulator has enough stored energy and the edges are sharp enough to slice a finger OFF!. Follow the manual and lock the regulator with a bolt. No place for a shortcut here.

this part is the answer if your teeth have worn out. its common for the last 4 or 5 teeth at each end to strip before the rest. this part is easy to install and when it strips out in 15years just replace it again. much easier the replacing the whole riveted part. pain in the butt job emptying all the parts out of a door but i done it enough times now its not so bad.

You are correct that it is probably the regulator gear.

The stronger than stock aftermarket gear is best.
The issue w/ the SS gear repair piece is that you can expect the narrow teeth to cut into the motor gear. The stronger than stock aftermarket gear is much better. No special tools to remove assembly however remember that spring is stiff so be careful & watch out for your fingers.
Welding is needed to remove & install the gear.

I installed one of these gear kits and it lasted about 5 months before it also striped out - a $40 waste of money!!
I bought a used assembly on ebay that was in good shape and spent $50. New or good used is the only way to go in my opinion AND experience.
Good Luck!
