Replacement hood sources
Since I have been recently displaying my relative ignorance about these Corvette-things, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows of a good source for a replacement for big brother's 80 model. After we get this monster-motor finished, the hood is going to lack about 2 to 3 inches of closing because of the new engine's manifold and carburetor. I saw one on a beautiful 'vette at a show in Stanwood, Washington, back in June but can't remember the manufacturer name. We don't want one with a huge rise in it.
As usual, thanx for any input.

Helpful tip...when I install an aftermarket hood...depending on who I get it from...due to customers design choice....I personally can not stand the rough fiberglass underside of the hood when it is raised. The entire exterior of the car is slick and when you raise the hood...it looks cheap...due to the rough hand-laid fiberglass effect....so...I...sand and gelcoat the underside of the hood in black gelcoat and prep it so it is smooth and when the hood is opened...the smoothness of the exterior flows from the outside to the underside of the hood. The gelcoat also protects the underside of the hood from oil and what-not that can be easily cleaned with a towel when detailing is preformed. The rough fiberglass is a bit harder to keep looking nice. But like I said...that is what I do. the choice is yours.

As Sarah Palin said, "Well there you go again..." All of you folks make me think of the movid Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: I don't remember which one kept saying it but the line is, "Who are those guys?" Same goes here on this forum. An absolute priceless source of information and thoughts abounds on this forum. As a matter of fact, the guy up in Washington told me the name of the company and I could only remember that it had three initials to the name and one of them was "I" and I'm certain you guys all nailed it.
As always, greatly appreciate your input. One of these days I'll figure out how to put a picture of big brother's hot-rod on the forum.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Below is our "Z-Style High-Rise". It gives you about 1 3/4" additional clearance. It retails at $765.34. I can do $727.07 for you forum members!

Here is our "80-Style High-Rise". Unlike most of our hoods it is smooth on both sides. This hood gives you about 1 1/4" additional clearance. The price is the same as the Z-Style High-Rise.

Below is our "Vented High-Rise", which we also make without the vents. This will give you about 1 1/2" of additional clearance. This hood retails for $670.58, but will be $637.05 for forum members.

Let me know if there is anything I can do!

Craig, You have some Very Very Nice Fiberglass, In my opinion Your design's Up there with Larry Shinoda's creative design.
Copco, Your clearance measurements seem to indicate the High L88 Hood would work well and give you some room for possible future manifold changes. I put one on to eliminate any possible hassle installing a new 500HP engine build. Cowl induction is very functional Plus you get to look into the engine compartment and see your air cleaner assembly. It takes a little getting use to after looking at your Stock Hoods Lines and Curves.
