Mirror mount on doors
Are the holes in the doors for the bullet sport mirrors the same as the chrome mirror? I am wanting to replace the chrome mirror while I am doing the paint and body work.

78 should have had bullet mirrors which mount different than the chrome mirrors. The bullet mirrors have studs on them & the nuts go on from the inside. The chrome mirrors have a bracket that goes on the outside of the door & the bracket attaches to the door via "well nuts". Then the mirror attaches to the bracket with a set screw.

And no, the holes are not in the same place. I just did the opposite on my 68. I replaced the chome mirrors withy bullet mirrors. I used a hole saw on the inside door shell to get access to the mirror studs to put the nuts on. It was a challenge but I think they look great on a 68 !

76yellow, I am in the process of doing the same thing to my 69 coupe. Which currently has no mirrors or holes in the outter skin of the door. How low do these bolt to the door? Do the nuts on the inside interfear with the outter window weather strip?
