Under Hood Light Question
Got a crazy question here:
I have a 79 Vette. The under hood light is laying over to the side in the engine compartment.
My question is......where is this light supposed to mount ??
Any info is much appreciated !

Attaches to hood above the bracket that holds hood open.

The underhood light on the 77 attaches to the hood near the driver's side hood hinge..
The years of the closing the hood had probably loosened the screws and they fell out or enlarged the attaching holes..
You can use s slightly larger screw but will have open the holes on the bracket slightly..
Good Luck

Lights w/ hood open. Grounds to support.
PS I added a disconnect to mine on + side.

It is controlled by a mercury switch

Hmmm.... what the heck does the support ground to ?
One other note and nobody probably gives a hoot but the hood light has its very own fusible link.

mine had a ground wire that went into the harness, mercury in the base of the socket turned it on, and yes it is on its own fuse link

Funny, I thought the plunger was for both the alarm and the light.I have it disconnected and I took the light bulb out.....The bulb is back in now and I almost got blinded in the process.
.......Mercury switch in the socket......I would not have guessed that in a million years!
