Default LS3/tranny

Hi i just thinking of Buying a complete Chassie from a C6 that includes the Ls3 Engine tube and tranny, my question is, is there anyone out there who have used the originale transmission from the rear end chassie, and mounted directly to the LS3 engine? is there someone who sells a complete kit so i could complete the Originale 6 speed tranny to Ls3 engine, and also the originale clutch really looking forward to your professional reply`s i will mount the package into my 1972 corvette, so basicly i need advice howe to complete this package
i know i can buy a Tremec tranny or some other trannys but it is the originale tranny i would like to use,

Stig,

You might get more info posting this in the LS swap thread, but here are my thoughts. Don't take any of this as being facts since I have not done any research into C6 transmissions. The C6 probably uses a Tremec T56 like most of the other newer GM cars. The LS3 should have bolt holes that will accomodate pretty much any GM transmossion. You might have to buy a flywheel and bellhousing for the transmission, and replace the clutch as a standard procedure, but I'm thinking you can mate the C6 transmission to the LS3 in the configuration that will work in the C3. If I were you I'd do some more research into the C6 drivetrain to make sure the trans is something that can be bolted to a bellhousing.

I'm not sure its possible and definitely not worth it. You would need at a minimun, to add a bellhousing, and new tailshaft. I'm pretty sure the input and output shafts are different and would have to be changed as well.

Your best bet would be to find a 1998-2002 Camaro or Firebird and take the transmission from that. It would bolt right up to the LS3 and save you a ton of trouble.
