Default AC vacuum valve question

Does anyone know when you apply a hand vac and pull vacuum aganist the pendulm valve does it hold the vacuum or does it leak slightly.

I need to know before I replace it.

Mine leaks down. the vacuum I pull is directly to the valve not throught the hoses. so I know its not a hose leak.

I like to know if the others ac (valves) also leak down naturally.

Or do I replace them all with new

Thanks

Are you refering to the water valve that's in the heater hose on the right fender well? If so, that has a diaphragm type seal and should not leak vacuum.

not the heater valve, the valve thats inside the cowl that leads to the ac/heater box
it diverts fresh air into the heater/ac box its a 71 by the way.

None of the diaphragm actuators should leak vacuum and the one you refer to has a diaphragm. The valve with a supply side (head light, wiper door etc) may tend to leak, but nothing on the control side should leak. In actuality, none of the valves are suppose to leak.

Gary

The only diaphragm I can remember that was supposed to leak was one year of the EGR valves and maybe one of the choke pulloffs.
