Looks like bubba already tried to repair the stock clock. Once you remove clock from it's housing there are three studs. On these 3 studs is a round plastic piece that goes around connected at these 3 studs. This plastic piece is broken. My question is, the quartz conversion kit will it replace the guts of the clock. Will all I use is the face and housing?
thanks quys
Thank you, looks like all the gears are there. I think I will order the quartz clock. One good side affect is I previously had no gauge lights. After I pulled out bezel to get to the clock noticed plug had pulled away from circuit board...... plug back in now have lights..... solves that problem

On that plug that had pulled away: notice the very thin contacts that are a part of the printed circuit, put a tiny bit of glue on the back side of those thin contacts so they will stay in place. When you put the plug back in pay attention to the tabs on both ends of the plug, they are 2 different sizes meaning the plug goes in only one way and make sure both tabs click into place so the plug will not work its way back out.
On the quartz clock installation: Read the directions carefully. I always put a tiny bit of WD40 on the gear assembly and stem that you use to adjust the clock and then work it until smooth and then blow it out with dry air. Sometimes it can be stiff and hard to push the stem in and out and turn it if you don't.
You will have 3 new push clips that will have to be pushed on over the new plastic studs, its easy to crack the new assembly. I support the bottom side of each stud using the end of my kitchen counter (sharp 90 degree edge unlike a rounded corner on a desk). I use a 1/4 " nut driver to push the clips on.
Thats the 2 points that I can remember worth noting.
Just to add a little to this, gunpowder's pic is great!
There are two metal gears by the red pliers; the lower one that is shinny is the clock clutch. Sometimes people skip the paragraph on the clock install about this clutch and there are detailed instructions on how to check it with the kit.
If the clutch is to loose, the clock will work properly, if the clutch is gummed up then it will strip the new plastic gears that come in the movement kit.
