The dash installation diagram in the AIM helps. Main dash wiring harness has to be correctly routed or you'll run it up against the braces. Connect the speedo and tach drive cables as early in the process as you can. It's much easier to connect them while you've got some wiggle room behind the speedo and tach than it is after the dash is in.
Go slowly and don't force things. You can crack a dash if you try to force it when it's binding.

Good luck.
Excellent advice here, I just put the dash in mine last week. I would also advise you to let the astro vent air tube hang loose, slip the dash outlet air vent into it and when the dash pad is in reconnect it to the under dash mount.
Patience is the key and "if it don't go the first time, don't force it"!
....was to extend all the leads and add a couple of connectors that included most of the wires (I think my electric tach still has to be unplugged individually). And, yes, I soldered all the extensions.
After the 3rd time of removing the dash I figured it was the thing to do. I can now disconnect the wires by snapping open 2 connectors and pull all the dash pads away without worrying about pulling lamps and whatnot.
Just something to consider.

Now where were you with that great idea last week!
