Default disassembling vent control

I'm tearing apart the center console and dash as part of the interior redo (intimidating!). What's the correct way to disconnect the vent control cable from the control *****? I'm referring to the kick panel vents. Any other tips while I'm in there? I never flinch at mechanical work, engines, trans, etc but as soon as I get into electrical, vacuum, basically anything under dash I'm all thumbs

If you remove the kick panel from the car, you’ll see the vent cable is attached with a single screw. Remove this screw and the cable should pull off the flapper door.

If you are taking them loose at the levers, then there is a retainer that holds them I place. Just pull the retainer off and your cable will come free.

I can post a picture of this if you need it... The interior can be intimidating the first time you tear in to one but it’s really not that bad. I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it.

Ok.. I did a pic up quick for you on both. . . This should help. Number 4 is the clip and it is a push on design. The screw is in blue for the side vent.

Thanks, I'm trying to pull it free of the vent control. I'll just pull harder as I was correct in how it came apart but was getting nervous pulling so hard to get the pin free. BTW I ordered my carpet from you earlier in the week, future orders are imminent as it was a good experience and price. Thanks.

Grab it with some Channel locks or pliers and it should come off. They can be difficult! If you can try to re-use them. The fingers that hold them in place will dig in the stud and that is what you are fighting.

Thank you for the kind comments!
