Default 1971 bb rear composite spring rate?

i have an original 71 bb auto. car has a composite rear spring. no manufacturing name but has a serial number and some other numbers. trying to decide what spring rate i have so i can order my shocks.

serial number is 0203139
other numbers in seperate blocks are 602 101 103 105

thanks for the help. also i know people are running 550 springs up front, any particular brand? are they all the same height? not looking for a skate board here just a solid handling car that my wife can drive every day. by the way, looking at the bilstien hd shocks

Check the spacer that sits upright between the two steel plates. 634-127 = 315lb, 634-128 = 340lb, 634-129 = 355lb

muskegon brakes, i was told this was a trw spring. i know you are a dealer for them. does any of those number mean anything to you? the spring would have been purchased in 94 or 95. thanks.

Hi, you are correct this is a TRW spring. On the spring where the numbers were 602 101 103 105 if you look at this closely you will see that under the the 100 #'s one of them will be punched out or stamped, either a circle or a diamond. That is how you tell the spring rate.

101 103 105
-------------------------
315 340 355 rate
Here is a link. content.mamotorworks.com/pdf/602836.pdf
hope this helps.

103 it is. 340 lbs. is this ok for a stock big block with factory rear sway bar? i just ordered the sport bilstien shocks and 550 lb front springs? i was kinda worried about ordering the shocks without knowing the rear spring rate.

Glad to help.. I too have the 103= 340 rate spring and went with Koni's shocks, and on the front I got the 460 springs thought the 550 would be too stiff for Chicago streets.
