Default 69 Exhaust

Be easy on me, first post!
My 69's original exhaust has about had it. The car is all original, weekend driver and I don't want to hurt it's originality or it's value. Mine did not come stock with sidepipes, but I was thinking about adding sidepipes...is this going to hurt the value?? I was also considering CC's Magnaflow setup(great sound!), or should I just go all original??.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Changing to sidepipes would affect the originality of the car IMO, the tank sticker would reflect the absence of that option on the car as it left the factory. I do not believe there is a identification number for the correct mufflers (I could be wrong here), and these are expected to be replaced at some point. If you do not want to change the originality of the car I say go with the magnaflow system. I have used magnaflow products and like their quality and performance characteristics.

It's very unlikely that your existing system is the original from the factory, especially the passenger side muffler. There's lots of replacement systems available for undercar exhaust but switching to side pipes is a major change that will always be detectable just by looking at the rear valence. Not my cup of tea.

Add the side pipes if you want to, purchase the rear lower filler panel shown in this link. http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...8&dept_id=1434 Paint to match!

Keep your original filler panel in case you want to return to stock.

Thanks for the input guys. I will go with the Magnaflow...I think I already knew the answer, just wanted some back-up..
Mike Ward...Just curious, why would you be suspicious of my "passenger side muffler"?? (and not the driver?) I bought the car in 1986 (near Lake Tahoe), I am 3rd owner and I'm quite sure (not positive!) the exhaust is ALL original.
Thanks

The right side muffler always rotted out first due to trapped moisture, related to the initial operation of the heat riser valve and short trips where the car was not brought up to full operating temps. If you're interested post some pics of the system. It's fairly easy to tell the difference by looking at the bends in the pipes, welds and ID #s on the mufflers.
