I totally rebuilt my pump. If your pump is like mine there is a doubled edged piston seal that resembles a O ring and 3 check valves most likely they are worn out. The check valve assm. is easy to get but the seal isn't. I wanted to keep my pump original so I made many phone calls and finally located a manufacture that was nice enough to send me a couple of seals. The pump works like new now. By the way there is no diaphragm in the pump. If the pump is working properly it doe's not require priming.
So if I am having this problem after getting the rebuild kit, what else could be the cause? I have a new seal, O-rings, and valves.
Yes with the wiper already running. Try with the wipers running just grounding the dark blue wire on the pump.
Ok, I did that, the same thing happened as when I push the button inside the car.
The lower "arm" tries to reach forward and grab the notched wheel, unsuccessfully.
I took a screw driver and moved the notched wheel once, from there the arm started to grab the notches and start pumping, all the way around.
Water squirted out.
Problem seems to be that it won't grab the first time (works fine for one rotation if I move it one notch with the screwdriver).
