I made the CD books! One of the main reasons I started the project was my employee's having problems finding things in the books. Hey, I even got Norm to start using them and he's about as paper minded as they come!
Paper works, but when you need to find something you can't. On the CD version, you enter a one word search and it will usually take you right to the page. Finding the right page in the paper version is a task!
If searching one word and you keep getting hits page after page, simply open the advanced search tab in adobe and it will create a list of the word and every page it's found on. Then just click one and it takes you there. Once you find the page you can print it out over and over again without worrying about it pulling out of the binder.
For searching... CD. For using it as paper, hey you can even print your own copy if you don't like the CD.
what is the difference between the two like is one more specific that the other and also if I get the cd can I print it out.
I only ask because if they are the same I prefer paper
They are the same from what I understand. I picked up a CD version of the 1980 AIM from Willcox a few weeks back. I have not tried to print anything from it but I am curious if the print version is a little bit more clear.
One big difference is the ability to search the CD version for what you are looking for instead of thumbing through the paper pages.

Nope! The printed version is actually a little worse... Some of the pages in the older books are horrible. We tried where we could to make improvements in the quality of the pages. Some there just was nothing we could do for them.
One thing I forgot to mention is that you can zoom in on the pics too! (for people like me that are eye sight impaired).
And yes, you can print any page from the CD you need.
The CD version wasn't available when I bought my AIM. Whenever I'm using a specific section I make a copy so that I won't get grease all over the original. The pics are sometimes pretty bad quality. Most of these manuals have been copied a number of times so they aren't what the HDTV crowd will expect for resolution. The ability to search and zoom makes the CD a clear winner in my book.
