whats is the best brand for the money(both high and low end) and also is there any place that I can read up on adding forced induction on a carburated vehicle(I know the ins and outs of it on a fuel injected vehicle)
and also would they fit under the stock hood or would i need to get a new hood.
I am also about to add a blower on my 75 vette. From what I read and been told the weiand 142 or 144 blower is the best choice if you do not plan on rebuilding your entire bottom end with forged parts. The provide 25-40% power gain. Even though the weiand 144 blower is for low hood clearance it still will not fit and a high rise hood must be purchased or a cut out in the original hood with hood scoop can be made.
thanks for info I guess the next step is to see how much higher it is that the stock hood and also to see if maybe I can find a used one, good luck on your project and I guess I will keep an eye out till you finish and post pictures
What is your intended use? Blvd cruiser or drag racer? How important is the final look?
If you want the carb through the hood look you go roots type blowers.
If you want to maintain the factory body lines then you go centrifugal type.
There are pros and cons to each design.
Budget?
Power level desired?
The centrifugal type does have the option of an intercooler without too much trouble, but the intercooler on a roots typically adds height which can be problematic.
Each system will add an amount of weight to the car. Given the availability of aluminum components today a BB might be better for more than a couple of reasons.
I like the look of the roots style blower when I lift my hood however I would like as much as possible to have it being very stock looking to allow for regular driving, but I know I cant have everything so I may have to go with a centrifuge. as for power gains I guess something modest but not to outrageous as for amount to spend I guess about 1-3k or I would go for less if I knew I could
