My "Corvette by the Numbers" book shows 3925647 as the main case for a 68-69 Vett 3 speed. Doesn't look like it came out of a Corvette. Is yours a 4 speed? I just Googled saginaw 3925658 and a ton of hits came up. Looks like it was a 'B' body 4 speed amoung other apps.
Your avatar says you have an '80 but from what I have read the Saginaw was only used on '78 & '79s. It hass an iron case and 7 bolt cover. 2 or 3 cuts on input shaft determine close or wide ratios - don't know which. Apparently L48s got the wide ratios.

It is an '80. I swapped it from an auto a couple of years or so ago. The transmission and hurst shifter were in a 79, but I thought they only put Muncies in these cars and assumed that both were transplanted.
I think the same kit will fit all saginaw transmissions. Don't know if you will be able to trace where it came from. GM used it on everything from Camaros to Vegas and Monza. Good transmission as long as you stay below the 200 hp mark.
