Default 79 Auto to 4spd conversion question

I'm looking for some input on where to cut the hole for the stock shifter. Has anyone done a conversion on a 79? Thanks in advance!

Default 79 4-speed conversion

If you do not have a car to look at regarding the shifter hole, I would simply cut the hole directly under the hole in the 4-speed console plate to match the factory shift boot which has a metal trim plate that screws to the floor.

Yea, I don't have a car to look at or a 4spd console plate yet. I getting ready to set the body down on the frame and need to cut the hole.

I have a shifter tunnel from my 68 parts car I can check for you, if you can wait until tomorrow.

Thanks for checking. I think 69's had fibreglass floors and 79 had metal floors....not sure if that makes a difference.

I didn't think about that. I'm not sure if there is a difference either. I'm sure a '79 owner will come along that will be able to help you out.
