What's your projects??? Let's hear it...
Besides the fact that we all own the ultimate dream car here, there are a lot of other cool cars out there too.
What are your other favorite cars or projects besides the C3 Shark(s)?
If all you have are C3 sharks or projects...then here is the other question.
What is your C3 car/project? Any new projects to get ready for the 2002 driving season???
I'll start.
-Just got an 86 IROC-Z Camaro, because I've always liked them. It's a dark blue metallic coupe, no T-tops unfortunately, but it was tuned port fuel injected and had a 700R4 and a 3.23 rear.
The 305 was shot after 140,000 miles, so I pulled the 355 out of my 68 Corvette, bolted on the tuned port injection, and dropped it into the IROC. It runs great with the more modern fuelie set up, but I hate the single exhaust. So next project after the ratchetting shifter is to build a custom dual exhaust exiting in front of the rear tires.
-So what about the 68 Corvette? I'm in the middle of converting it to a big block. I built a very well built 427 big block with a 454 4-bolt block and all forged parts. Power is in the 600-something hp range (sealevel) and 600 bl-ft range. It's done, but the M20 Muncie is inadequate. I'm studying other options. I may have to run the M20 GENTLY while the motor breaks in, and then go shopping for a Rock Crusher, or save my money for a Jerico. Really, what else will stand up to 600 lb-ft?
-We also have a 68 Firebird that I built a torque monster, 10:1 455 for. The engine runs fabulously. However, it has developed a smoking problem. I haven't determined the source of the smoke yet. I don't think it's oil smoke, it looks more whitish and not that blue. It's not a huge smoking problem, only after a full throttle run and then smokes at cruising. I suspect a compromised head gasket. Anyway, this car is the family pro-street drag racer. It's capable of 110 mph, mid 13 quarters at 5,800 feet in altitude, on street tires and 3.08 gears. Now that's torque!
Don't worry, the development continues. 3.90 Ford 9-inch is in its future, 275/50R-15 drag radials, and maybe better forged rods and a roller cam.
Oh, and, it's gonna get a 200-hp NOS system.
It's so fun to beat up on ricer Hondas and supercharged Grand Prix GTP's.
Have not had the pleasure of running a Viper though.
So let's hear about your projects!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Summer's coming. Whatcha building???
Too many of them, and too many fun things to help me procrastinate
Lets see:
1) Write an Tech Report and work experience so I can get my CET(Certified Engineering Technologist) designation.
2) I am designing a shifter for a 4 speed.
3)French doors and deck for the backyard(planning stage----meaning no money for it yet)
4)Finishing the nursery for the rugrat thats on the way
5) rebuilding the vettes and another starter.
6)Replacing clutch disk on vette(not started, too damn cold on the garage floor.
7)Looking for a better job
8) Get rid of all of the **** and Tube wire in my house.
9) just finished rebuilding the front suspension of my truck--- PIA if you have an IFS GMC 4X4
I think that is it right now, but I am at work so the wife hasn't been able to give me any more.
Yesterday was the first that I ever drove the car. I actually got it licensed and insured a ways back and finally got it to the point where I was able to go for a little test drive. Ok, so there was no windshield, windows, top, or seatbelts or interior in it yet, but it was a test drive. I took it for a couple mile spin around the neighborhood. Have to say it felt real good.
Hope to get it into the body shopp in the next couple of months so I can get some cruising in this summer. Then again, it's been so nice out including today, I may go uncover the vette and give it a rinse and go for a cruise.

I have to take the 6 speed shifter out & and send it back to LONG for a rebuild.
Will probably put an aftermarket AC kit in so i can drive it throught the summer.
Been having thought of carbon fiber driveshaft & half-shafts!
Hopefully this year it will do a 10.99 quarter mile time, then on to some road racing.
The other 2 cars I have been playing with are Audi turbos..one is the Audi TT:

Only time I took it to the track I ran 14.9...not bad for a lil 4 banger.
The other Audi is the daily driver, its called the allroad:

I haven't been to the track yet, but this thing has been doing consistent 5-5.5 sec 0-60 with the Gtech and one 13.8 on the G-tech...its a very fun sleeper to drive...2.7liter twin turbo, 6 speed, 310hp/370tq. Just waiting for some aftermarket downpipes to become available and then I'll have 350hp...you should see the look on the ricers faces when they get passed by the "wagon"

Jim

The guy doing the manifold conversion just finished my Victor Jr. This sucker fits under the stock BB hood (just barely!)

The '70 needs (I think) new head gaskets, so the heads will be coming off this spring. Then I plan on looking for a new shark to replace the '70 - this time I'm planning on buying one that someone else has already spent all the money on. I love working on it, but I just don't have the time to finish all the projects that need doing on this car. So finding the perfect chrome bumper convertible will be the most fun project... :D
