I just mounted 255/60R15's on my chassis & the park brake cable to the park brake itself is rubbing the back of the tire...anybody else experienced that? Or know how to sort out?
It happened to my '68 and never really had it resolved or now, I just have a big hose worm clamp around the cable to keep it away from the side wall. Of course, I don't dare use the emegency brake
The fix is to relocated the emegency cable brackets to on top of the trailing arms.
Yes, that's the norm & we have had numerous topics on rear tire size!
I am fine w/ 255/60 & have not looked at moving the cable, maybe some repositioning is needed.

If that plastic tie breaks, you can expect the cable to cut through that tire fast. If you don't want to move the cable, then consider adding another clamp w/ some rubber or at least a steel cable w/ a piece of rubber hose.
275 is what was on the car when I bought and I see no reason to replace them. No worries about the zip ties, tehyre the wide ones, and no it won't cut the tire anyway, it's a round cable housing, at worst it will get the cable a little warm.
Well, I've decided....I'm going to reposition the cable to run up the inside of the trailing arm instead of the outside & reposition the bracket to the top of the trailing arm....might as well solve the problem correctly the first time & while my body is still off the chassis.

Pretty much what was suggested to you on another forum
I had the same two zip ties in place for 20 years, almost forgot it until this thread.
When I get done.. I plan to use 2 newer and bigger ones with some epoxy. I'll just check it every once and a while.
15 years ago when fitting 275/50/17 on the stock wheel centerline, but 9/5 inch rims....so that was 3/4 more toward each side of the wheel, and of course a tad more on the tire.....I moved the ebrake to behind the rotor and moved the frame mount shroud ends to the outer end of the thwart....I still had to take a large flat washer with a hole in outer edge, mount to the lower shock bolt, and put a good stiff spring on it to the cable shroud....holding it off the tire....
I could not seem to fit the cable on to the top of the t-arm, although everyone else seems to do it fine....
Yes. A long time ago I did a topic called Tire Test to do that. Multiple choice w/ 3-4 tires listed w/ a speed rating thrown in on at least 1.
The patch is the same size, only the shape changes so that as the tire is changed from a narrower tire, the patch runs front to back, to a wider tire the patch is out side to side.
Guys were guessing. Only GM chassis engineer ddecart replied correctly (by e-mail instead of posting).
I put 255/60-15 Eagles on my 71 and the cables just barely touched the tire. I was able to tweek the cables by hand and they clear fine now. I'll recheck it and maybe do something more if needed after I get it drivable.
