75 Convertible Carpet Install
I have carpet from Willcox and have searched archives for help with installation, there's alot out there but not quite what I need. I can't figure out how the carpet that goes over the wheel well humps is supposed to lay. How does it fit around the top lid hinges? How does it fit around the lid latches? How does it fit with the carpet that covers the vertical surface behind the seats? Can anybody out there post photos of these areas?
Itsa 75 convertible. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
TIA
Larry
One of my best friends is a professor at Stetson U and lives in Deland. Larry Belcher... He's a motor head and a darn good restorer. You might look him up someday.
Anyway, the rear well humps are always hard to figure out. We just did a coupe install two weeks ago but it was a coupe but I've always wished ACC would mark them before sending them out. I don't know of a way to describe this to you by typing.
I have a diagram but not on this computer of how the carpet was from the factory on the 1975 cars. I had a conv. here that was original and we took pictures of it. I'll check tomorrow and see if I can find them.
If I remember correctly, the rear T riser is to be just below the doors (or vent door covers). This kept the carpet out of the way of the hinge assembly.

Thanks Willcox-
Photos will be most appreciated. Does your friend, Larry Belcher, by any chance have a C-3 ? Could be a good reference. The T riser fits pretty easily but the one panel in question is the vertical one directly behind the seats. I've heard it referred to as "a luggage stop". How it meets with the hump covers is a puzzlement. I'm on the lookout for photos.
Thanks !
Larry

The first pic was during shoulder belt installation in 2008. The second from today. I now have a subwoofer in back.
If you need more let me know before Friday. The car goes into storage until April on that day.

Thanks Paul-
Thats what I need. Is the "hump carpet" glued or just lying there and is it cut around the lid latches or trapped under them ? Storage until April
How do you stand the separation that long ?!!
Ya'll Enjoy

I just went through an interior restoration on my 78. I journaled the entire process right here on the Forum. I received lots of helpful advice from our friends here and I couldn't have done it without them. Please Read the Thread - There are lots comments and Photos of every stage.
Please - after reading it - if you have any questions - Let me know. It isn't a difficult project at all.. just take your time and be methodical
'I know it's a bit different than your Roadster - but hopefully there is a photo in here that may help you.
Cheers and Best of Luck. (PS here is the Final Post... Within it near the top - there is a link to the original Post that I want you to read)

It's perhaps not the best job that can be done...but when I bought the car in early 2008 it looked fine to me. Still does.
There is some cement underneath but very little. I had to lift the carpet near the top hinges to find the holes for the shoulder belt retractor and it came up very easily. As you can see from this pic it is basically a friction fit under the 'glass lip. Again, this may not be correct but it never moves so I just leave it be.

Finished laying the carpet in the rear, all that's left is the front floors and seats. It's lookin' a lot better than I worried it would. I only cut myself twice with the trimming razor blade. It's a good thing the carpet is oxblood in color. Besides, if ya don't shed a little blood on a project ya probably ain't trying hard enough
I'll post photos when complete-
Ya'll Enjoy !
