For the most part Bubba left my car alone Except it seems that he didn't know how to set rear camber so he bent the strut rods to adjust the camber. Can I straighten them? Or do I need to buy new ones? I will need to do that as the new yokes will change the camber. :mad  :jester

I know of a few vette shops that heat and then bend them back, I never liked this process- not sure how the heating and rebending affects the tensil strength of the metal? I bought the 1.250 replacements from Corvette Central a few years ago. They look llikethey are dril rod with welded on ends vs the cast or forged original ones. I painted them with POR15 metal Ready and they look pretty good. They are not installed yet so I can't tell how they perform. The guy that makes them is at Carlisle every year selling them.

This is a common Bubba trick. No heat is required to straighten them out however. Pull them off and take them to someone who has hydraulic press. Takes about 4-5 trys, rotating the shaft between each small press, and then you will have a fairly straight rod.

I would not go the heat route for sure. That could possibly weaken them. You could as Gary suggested find someone with a press to straighten them. If that does not work then it's dig out the Ol' checkbook.
Good Luck,
Ray

It's not that Bubba does'nt know how to adjust the camber, it's that he runs out of adjustment because the rubber bushings are shot.
He then has a brain storm and bends the rods to fix the problem, instead of replaceing the bushings and adjusting correctly.
You might find yourself now at the point where it's better to just replace the strut assys. LOL

Yea... my strut rods are bent also. I think someone did this because of the worn rear suspension and the fact that the yokes are loose. I just ordered a used set from a forum member with heim joints. These are like the Vette Brakes adjustable strut rods only heavy duty. This way, I can get the rear aligned close until the whole back end gets rebuilt. I remember reading a post about someone getting their strut rods bend straight for about $6.00 each at a machine shop. Good luck.
