I have an engine in the building stages and know it is not going to produce enough vacumm to keep the power brakes operating properly, I have read on this forum that some people have gone to a hydrobooster system, any info please.
You can do a search and many threads deal with this topic...but why go through all that expense when you can go manual for chump change and the stopping distance is the same. Guys who have changed to this brake system rave about it vs power boost, but I don't know if any have gone from manual brakes...anyway, the stopping distance has not changed so, I find it hard to justify the cost, at least going from manual....
I went from the manual setup to the hydroboost and highly recomend this. The pressure is far less to get the car stopped in a hurry. On the autoX I was really having to lay into the brakes sometimes and with the hydroboost you just think about the brakes and it stops. The manuals are fine for everyday driving but if you drive it aggressivly I would recomend the HB setup. It is an easy install and well worth it.
my car is not manual, it has the vaccum booster, i would think the stopping distance would increase going to manual, sounds a bit backwards, do not mean to critisize your comments. does anyone manufacture a kit to do this upgrade, any paticular vehicle to find a hydrobooster off of?

Stopping distance does not decrease, it's the same for manual, hyrdo, and vacuum, only thing that changes is the pedal feel and pressure you put on pedal...

I agree and highly recommend Hydroboost. Mine is built around a salvage yard unit from a late '90s Chevy 3/4 ton Siverado and top end hoses and connectors for about $350. You can shave a few $$ off if you use mid-level connectors, etc.
