Default 97 LT1 in '69?

How hard do u think it would be to drop a '97 LT1 into a 69 convertible? for gas mileage if anything.

I think it will be very difficult.

I know that the "batwing"-Oilpan sticks out to the side a lot and you can´t change this one cause its an integral part of the engine structure.

Dont know if it affects the frame, exhaust routing and so on.
Additional, probably the torque tunnel doesn´t have the same bolt pattern as the Gen I and II tranny´s. ( I don´t know this for sure!!! )

Use standard BIG BLOCK POWER!!! :D

I disagree, because it's been done. (Edit) Of course I remember right after I post it.

Vettedan has a '95 LT1 and 4L60E in his 1976.

Frank, are you thinking of an LS1? I believe they have the "batwing" oilpan design...

My gas mileage is awesome, I can keep up with the C4's boys on long trips without having to stop for gas ever few miles. For installation details see my web page. My '76 is a joy to race and drive. I probably have shaved around 200 to 300 LBS from the vette with the LT1/4L60E conversion along with some other mods. You might have a little more difficuiltly dealing with the OBD-II pcm if you plan on removing stuff like cats and other smog devices. OBD-1 is very easy to fool.
