Default Frame Swap......Questions

I have a 1976 with a frame that's rusted beyond repair. I have a 1974 frame in very good condition. Would it be a feasible swap to put a 74 frame in a 76 ? What would be the major differences between the two frames ? should I sell the 74 and look for a 76 ? PS. both cars had automatic transmissions.

As you can see from the pics the 76 frame has the box-section that accepts the hydraulic pistons. The 74 frame was a transitional year - it was essentially a 73 frame with additional plates welded on for the 74 bumper mounts. Probably not going to work unless you can cut out a section of the 74 frame and weld in the 76 pieces. That part of the frame doesn't usually rust out so you should have solid metal to work with.

Be carefull and check everthing real close for issues. The previous owner of my car swapped out the auto frame for a manual frame, dont know what year, and now I find the very front ends of the frame are different and theres not enough clearance for the radiator to slide in. I am going to have to cut on ot and hope it works out.

Might just try to sell the 74 frame and buy a 76 frame.
