My 79 vette has loose seat belts, The belts do not recoil, can that be fixed or do I change out coil system. Hadn't open it yet to take a look see. Thought I would get advice before I got started.
Take a look see first...and then let us know what you have found.
They can be serviced. AS long as the webbing is in good condition. If the webbing is damaged...it is wise to get them rebuilt or replaced due to the integrity of the webbing is now sacrificed....and may not perform as well as they were designed for an accident. It's your call....your life.

there is nothing wrong with webbing the only problem is it does not recoil it stays loose and gets in the door ja.m
Well if you can manually re-coil the webbing. Then it sounds like the spring is broken. The spring is located under the rou8nd plastic cap on the end of the assembly. They can be purchased and installed at home...but it is a bit tricky to get the tension correct.
