Default Intake height for clearance

Is a 6.6in intake manifold to high for a stock 77 hood with a standard aftermarket round airfilter?

not many of us know the height by inches....however we do know it by intake manifold height and carb style.....i had a performer intake with a 1/2" phenolic spacer a 750 demon carb and a drop base airfilter and i had no interference issues with my stock 77 hood......perhaps if you tell us the combination you want to use we could comment better, hope this helps, bob

Some of the performer intakes are less than 4 inch height.

Hurricane intake with a Holley 750 or a 750 Q-Jet Drop down round air filter and definitely no spacers.

No, there is good clearance for about 4.7" high intakes.
The 76-79 med. rise hood allows the Victor Jr, RPMs & others on SB w/ aftermarket dropbase filter & Holley.

The L-88 hi rise hood is only 7/8" higher than the 76-79 med. rise hood.

Thank you! Didn’t want to build an engine and find out at the last minute I was that proverbial 1/2 inch to tall or something. I don’t like small air filters, bad enough I will not be able to use my double stack but I have found a partial solution to that. Thanks on the L88 info I was not sure how much I could gain with that since the idea did cross my mind.
