Default Serpentine Belt Conversion

My brother has the whole serpentine belt drive system off of a 89 Camaro RS V6 and I was wondering, will this setup bolt up to my 74 vette's Gen I V8? It has the AC compressor, power steering, and everything else. I've been thinking of doing this conversion for a while, but never really knew if I could use this setup from a 89 V6 to a Gen I V8.

Might work, take a look at where the AC compressor and the top of the alternator end up

But will the setup bolt up to the V8? The AC comp. and alt. don;t look that high.

I can tell you that the 89 camaro V8 serpentine set up will work on our cars. Which V6 is in the car the 3.4 eng? If I were you I would do some internet researching on possible part numbers for the V8 and the V6 and see if they are the same

I've always wondered, what do you do about the water pump and the power steering pump, do you just switch over the pulleys or do you have to switch both pumps out?

I have a complete set up brackets, new water pump, alt, smog delete
pulley, all clean and ready to bolt on! $300 plus shipping, if you do a search you should find a pic in F/S (complete serpentine set up)

The water pump needs to be replaced with a reverse rotation pump from whatever the donor car model is. For the PS pump, the stock reservoir outlet tube interferes with the block in the serpentine setup, so you will need a new one of those as well. If you swap out the pressure flow valve and spring (super easy) with your stock unit, that will be done. I bought a reman unit from the parts store, just to know what I was dealing with.

I need a complete bracket and parts to buy for AC and Power Steering but no air pump to change over from the V-Belts on my 1978 Vet.

Can you help me and how much will it cost?

Just to answer your question, the Serp setup off of a V-6 F-body will not bolt to a SBC.

Just an FYI, I was planning on doing this type of switch and the fittings in the serp PS pump are metric, our hoses are not, so you will need to pull the PS pump apart and switch out the fittings. I had everything from a '95 BLazer and was ready to pull go when I came across a TPI engine for almost free so I am going that route. Now I have a lot of parts left over. People say it's not worth the effort for this switch, but I think it's great to see an old engine that someone made the effort to look different. Good luck.Good luck.
