Default starter problems-----help

having tough start problems on a 70 454 auto so idecide to go through the system. I use aford style solenoid on frame works great.the problem is i buy a new pmgr starter from dbelectric in tennessee.put it in and nothing. It doesnt tell me which of the 2 small terminals is the "S" or "I".will i hook this new pmgr starter up using the ford style solenoid the same way i did the old gm starter?I had to jump the "S" terminal to the big battery terminal on the old gm,do i do that on the new pmgr?I did test the new starter with jumper cables from the battery-pos. from battery went to the big terminal on new pmgr and the negative from the battery went to the body of pmgr starter, nothing, its dead right.or should i just skip the ford style solenoid and go right to the new pmgr starter. All help and ideas greatly appreciated.

You still need to jumper across the terminals if you want to keep using the Ford solenoid.

This is kind of obvious, but did you contact dbelectric, explain your setup, and ask them how you should wire up the starter?
