Default Sticky Tacometer with MSD setup

I recently upgraded my ignition system with an MSD Pro-Billet Vacuum Advance Distributor PN 8361, MSD Multiple Spark Discharger 6AL PN 6420, and Tach adapter PN 8920. Everything was running fine until my 30 year old tach circuit board fried probably to do the newly installed MSD ignition system. I purchased a new circuit board installed it correctly all seamed to work correctly hooked a multimeter to gauge the distributor to the tach which was off about 150 - 200 rpm but within range. Problem is for example I would be cruising around 2500 rpm, but when I advance the throttle a bit the tach needle would momentary stick at 2500 then shoot straight to 3000 when I advance more then the needle would move smoothly when I decelerate the needle would stick momentary sometimes and then move smoothly. Now when I took it onto the freeway I would cruise around 70 to 80 Mph and the tach would read around 4200 rpm but the engine sounded like it running around 3000 - 3500 rpm but would tach at 4200 to 4500 rpm. Gear ratio installed is 3.73 stock gears from the factory. Does anyone know what the problem is or is this the norm with an MSD vs original stock ignition. Meantime I disconnected the tach adapter from the 6AL box to prevent frying the new circuit board. Please advise.
