Default How to fix PowerBuilt vacuum pump ?

Was bleeding my brakes and I guess I got some brake fluid in the pump itself. That POS little plastic jar that is supposed to hold the fluid so nothing will get into the pump won't hold any vacuum so it is useless.

Anyhoo, anyone know how to take one of these apart and get it so it works again ?

Or maybe you don't even have to take it apart I don't know

I had 2 issues with mine.
#1- There is a flat o-ring around the lid of the jar. The brake fluid caused it to swell so the diameter was bigger than it should have been. I just snipped it and stuck it back in so it overlapped itself a bit, and put it back together.

#2- I took apart the cylinder and put vaseline on the piston ring because it would not seal. That didn't do it. Still would not seal. So, I put a layer of tape in the ring slot, put the ring back on, and it held vacuum all night. Like 8 hours all night.Even a rubber band under the ring would probably do it.

Mine's working again, I guess the brake fluid dries or evaporates, anyway I am getting some vacuum now
